The program aims to refine your Jiu-Jitsu game flow with cutting-edge techniques and their variations. The dynamic curriculum and classes and hour-long live training sessions create a challenging yet safe environment for progression from blue to black belts.
- Understanding Jiu-Jitsu as a Continuous Journey: In the GB³ Program, the essence of Jiu-Jitsu as an unending journey of daily accomplishments leading to new challenges is fully realized. Techniques like arm-bars, triangle chokes, fireman carries, Kimuras, sweeps, guard passes, and single leg take-downs gain new significance as your Jiu-Jitsu game flow is defined.
- Being Role Models: Gracie Barra students in the Black Belt Program become role models within our community. They share GB techniques and training philosophy with newer students, contributing significantly to maintaining a safe, friendly, and progress-oriented environment.

No Gi
No Gi Gracie Barra Jiu-Jitsu refers to the practice of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu without the traditional Gi, or kimono, typically worn in training and competitions. In No Gi Jiu-Jitsu, practitioners usually wear shorts and a rash guard, which make grabbing and holding onto your opponent more challenging, emphasizing the importance of grip control, speed, and agility.
In a typical No Gi Gracie Barra Jiu-Jitsu class, you can expect the following:
Warm-Up: The class usually begins with a warm-up session consisting of exercises like jogging, stretching, and specific Jiu-Jitsu movements. These exercises are designed to increase your heart rate and prepare your muscles for the upcoming training.
Technique Instruction: The instructor will demonstrate and explain one or more Jiu-Jitsu techniques. These could range from fundamental techniques to more complex maneuvers, often involving takedowns, submissions, guard passes, or defensive strategies. No Gi focuses on controlling the opponent using underhooks and overhooks since traditional Gi grips are unavailable.
Drilling: After the demonstration, students practice these techniques with a partner. This drilling helps to engrain the movements into muscle memory and allows students to understand the application of techniques in a controlled environment.
Sparring (Rolling): The final part of the class usually involves sparring, often referred to as 'rolling.' Here, students apply the techniques they've learned against resisting partners in a safe and controlled way. This is an excellent opportunity for students to test their skills, build endurance, and understand how techniques work in real time.
Cool Down: Classes often end with a cool-down period, including light stretching or breathing exercises to help recover from the intense workout.
